Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to pay extra for each employee who uses Bluebird?
No. We offer a site license instead of per-seat pricing. Your Bluebird license covers as many employees as your local network can comfortably handle.
Do I need to be an accountant to use Bluebird?
No, but we do assume that you will work with an accountant (inside or outside your company). Bluebird is designed to be easy to learn and use, and it can also generate information and reports that will be very helpful for your company’s accountant or bookkeeper. We offer some basic training if you want to get better at managing the accounting aspects of your company.
Can I use my own chart of accounts?
Yes. Bluebird’s Accounting module is designed by and for accountants, and it includes deep, flexible account code creation and management tools.
Can I keep my current data?
Yes, in most cases. If your current software can export data, we can usually import it to your copy of Bluebird. The most common imports are customers, vendors/suppliers, and inventory items. We don’t usually import past transactions such as customer invoices or journal entries. Data conversion, cleanup, and import is billed hourly.
Can I use my current laser printer checks?
Yes. Bluebird lets you adjust how your checks are printed so you can match up with the checks you already have.
Our company has some unique needs. What can you do for us?
We offer custom design services to create tools that help you manage your company’s data and processes. All of Bluebird’s modules are designed for flexibility, so there’s a good chance you can achieve your goals in the current program. To save you time and money, we’ll always seek to help you use Bluebird to its fullest potential before we propose creating anything new.
Is there a limit to how many customers (or any other records) I can create?
There’s no hard limit to how many records of any kind you can create in Bluebird. After a few years of use, you may want to use our archive tool to move older transaction records to storage.
Do you have monthly or yearly recurring fees?
Our annual tech support contract is optional, and it covers phone and email support as well as any available software updates during that time period. Your first annual support contract is included with your purchase of Bluebird. We don’t have any recurring monthly or annual fees other than that.
Who handles your tech support?
We do, directly. Your calls and emails go to Bluebird employees who will do their best to respond within 24 hours if we can’t answer right then. We don’t use AI or a call center.
How is the software organized?
We have seven primary modules and a few additional specialty modules. All of these modules communicate with each other. For example, a customer created in Accounts Receivable can be seen and used throughout Bluebird. The primary modules are all included with your purchase, and the specialty modules cost extra.

Why should I buy Bluebird Accounting?
